#1 Christian Porn Site

Posted by lookup at 10:59 PM on January 16, 2005.

Okay, that title sounded weird, but I figured it would get your attention. Ever heard of xxxchurch? It's a site dedicated to battling lust through helping others stay off pornography. In their words, "XXXchurch exists to bring awareness, openness, accountability and recovery to the church, society and individuals in the issues of pornography and to begin to provide solutions through non-judgmental and creative means. XXXchurch is here to make you think, react and to decide where you stand on the issues of porn. We're not here to sling mud, but to shove the envelope and try and do some good. "

Okay, you might say a little porn isn't deadly, or that there's nothing wrong with tasteful pictures of nudity, but the desire grows. The addiction is mind-numbing. You crave for more until the mellow stuff just doesn't cut it anymore. Let's bring Ted Bundy as an example. He was raised in a Christian home and he was ingrained with good morals. But when he was thirteen, he discovered porn in a dump near his home, and then he was hooked. But it wasn't enough. Soon he wanted more and more of violent images in videos and magazines. He got his kicks from seeing women tortured and murdered. But soon, his addiction grew so much that he needed the real thing to satisfy him. So he went and killed several girls, molesting them and killing them and dumping them where they would not be found for months.
Guys, addiction to porn grows. It grows until it becomes this huge monster from which you cannot escape. So yeah, let's try to keep off that stuff.
XXXchurch... love it or hate it, it does the message good... keep off porn. You may not like their strategy, but hey, it got your attention.

everything resolved

Posted by lookup at 08:36 PM on January 12, 2005.

It really helps, if you're in a group with Christian friends, when once in a while you get down to the nitty gritty of things and just pour out everything that's been bothering you. We're responsible for each other and it's up to us to build each other up on the love of Christ and to correct each other in love. We have to be brutally honest if anything is done. It's what we are called to do, and it may be hard, but it's for the best if we are to continue growing together in Christ. Together.
It's great! Because when one is down, usually he brings the rest of the group down, and after moments like these the burden is lifted. It's so refreshing. Try it. Of course, your Christian friends have to be people you're at home with, but an open forum is also a great way for you people to get closer in Christ. It just happened today, and it's awesome.

Happy New Year!

Posted by lookup at 01:46 AM on January 1, 2005.

Yeah, first post of the year, what do you know? It's past one over here, and all the fireworks have died down leaving only the stench of burnt sulfur and whatnot and the sky dotted with white cloud-ish things that really aren't clouds, just signs of pollution, the aftermath of bright lights and big bangs.... poisonous smoke.
For my first meal, I just had menudo sopped up with wheat bread and some mashed potato and a few grapes... whoo! look at me sharing things you prolly won't care about. haha.
It is also the first time I actually got to listen to the songs I've got for lookup. Not very high in quality, but good enough. Beautiful Letdown! Man I love that song.

I just want to share something by Oswald Chambers. It is at this moment that we recollect our past and think about the future. Past first. I hope we all grew in faith and in spirit and in character. But also the past is when we look at the moments we blundered and fell and probably scraped our knees in the process. It's alright, though, as God takes these memories that help with our spiritual growth in the future. And with the Lord going before us (Isaiah 52:12) in every circumstance, we can rely on God to keep watch and to help us from commiting the same mistakes and failing.
Okay. New Year. We peer into the distant horizon that is our future and see only a murky, hazy blue, a little dim maybe... beyond it, we can only hope and speculate that it will lead to brightness. Along the way, there are new opportunities, second chances, and of course, the usual pitfalls. Moments that require you to stay firm in your faith - will you stand up for it? Times when we are caught up in temptation - are you determined to shun it? Prayers where God speaks to you - are you ready to listen?
All the time laid in front of us is time that should be put to good use. Let's remember how short it really is... how precious this commodity becomes! I'm just gonna leave the emphasis here, because I believe you got my point. What goals do we have for the year! I'm not trying to turn this whole thing into a cliche, but seriously, now's better than any other time. We shouldn't get stuck in this spiritual rut... entering 2006 realizing that 2005 wasn't really the year where we got a move on. Introduce Christ to a friend that doesn't know him. Practice brotherly love... meditate on the bible more... exert your utmost for His highest.

I'll be looking back at this if I ever live to see 2005 end. Let's compare notes and see if we accomplished our goals, if we have gotten any closer to Christ than we are now.

Once again, Happy New Year! A goal of mine for lookup is to incorporate more scripture into this blog. Yeah. I pray that all of us grow more mature spiritually, that our faith the size of mustard seeds grow into a healthy plant, that we all walk closer with Christ, that all tsunami victims find relief in the Lord, that everyone the world over will turn to Christ.

tsunami reflection

Posted by lookup at 05:43 PM on December 31, 2004.

It's been a while.

And in that short span of time so much has happened in the world. It's just a rush! We get so caught up in all our small little things these things just take us from behind spinning us into a whole new person.... and we wonder what happened.

Those guys in the tsunami where so many lives were lost. I just pray that those victims relied on the Lord as their high ground, and I am thankful that there are those who survived... little miracles to God but such a big impact to the whole world. Who knows, maybe that baby found floating on the mattress would someday become God's steward somehow. Maybe those people who sought shelter in a church will go on to spread the good news... with all the more urgency, following the reminder that time is running out.

Time is running out. The bible speaks of earthquakes and other earthly disasters and heavenly bodies shaking and famines as a sign of the Lord's coming. No one knows the day or the hour, but we better keep watch. And we better realize that we need to tell others fast about Christ. Because people are plunging into a Christless eternity every minute.

On a lighter note, Happy New Year guys! Life is short. Live well and live with purpose.

The way to life

Posted by lookup at 08:30 PM on December 7, 2004 as a favorite post.

Hi there. I know this is a Christian blog out here, and it's mostly about my walk with Jesus, but I know there are other people who need to know this message I'm about to share. So I will share it. I'm just posting it here so it gets on the list of newly-published entries temporarily, so. Even though majority of the people in the world are Christians, lets just clarify this some more. I got a few notes from "The Way to Life", a small booklet published by OMF literature. This is just a condensed version, so if you want to know more, go ahead and pick up a copy, only for five bucks. Five bucks well spent.

What is a Christian, first and foremost?

You may have grown up in a family that goes to church every sunday, but that doesn't make you a Christian. You may believe in God, but that doesn't mean you're a Christian, either. So what is a Christian? I'll explain that soon.

In the beginning, God created man free of sin. Man was to be God's friend and man was tasked to look after the earth. God gave man the gift of free will - freedom to love God. God didn't want love to be forced. God didn't want to scare us into loving him. But then sin entered the world through man, and it spread throughout the entire species. Because we sinned, the disease shall lurk within us forever, and because God hates sin, He has distanced himself from us. We forever remain away from God.
We all sin. Thinking of ourselves all the time is a sin. Selfishness is a sin. Being self-centered instead of being God-centered is a sin. You may be fine with your life of self-centeredness now, living your own way, going with your own rules. If you feel perfectly satisfied with that, that's fine. But you may go through your life feeling a nagging emptiness and you may have eternal separation from God.
We may sin as less as the next guy, we may not have murdered anyone like those people in prison, but that doesn't count. It does not give us a right to be proud, because all of us have fallen short of God's standard. There is no little sin nor big sin. Sin is sin, and all of us are guilty. It is like taking a test where the passing mark is 50. You may have gotten 49 while a friend got 5, but the thing is, you still failed. No matter what we try to do, we can never be perfect. And according to God, the wages of sin is death.
Normally, God would never have forgiven us for such a thing. But because God is the God of love, just as He is the God of justice, He sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price. Jesus Christ was just as human as the rest of us. He was born of a humble family. He experienced temptation like all of us... yet, He did not sin. Jesus was sinless. He was perfect.
Knowing that we could never live up to His standard, God sent His one son, Jesus Christ, for the sole reason of saving us. Jesus Christ was sent to die for us. At the Cavalry, Jesus carried the weight of the world on him. All the world's sin, from the beginning of time until the end of it, Jesus paid for with his clean, untainted blood. All of us are washed clean because Jesus paid the price for once and for all. Jesus bridged the once impossible gap between Man and God.
But there's one more step to be saved. All we have to do is to believe. Believe that Jesus Christ saved us. We have to repent of our sin, accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. Jesus as our Saviour - acknowledging that He paid the price for us with his ultimate sacrifice, and Jesus as our Lord - he saved us, therefore He owns us. We owe our lives to Him. We must surrender to him - because we are grateful for his sacrifice. This may sound radical, but really, the only way to be free is to surrender to Christ. we must stop being proud and admit that no deed of ours could ever bring us closer to God. Nothing of our doing but of Jesus Christ's.
Again, we have free will. Jesus is not gonna force his way into our hearts. He will sit quietly outside the door and wait for you to open it. Will you open your heart for Jesus?

If you accept Jesus right now, say a short prayer,

Dear Lord,
Thank you so much for saving me. Thank you so much for your sacrifice for me. I'm sorry for all my sins and I repent from my sins. I will turn away from them and I will follow you. Lord God, I surrender to You! I open my heart to You and I shall walk with you all the days of my life. In Jesus Christ's name, amen.

If you meant this prayer from the bottom of your heart, then congratulations! You are saved. Being saved is the easy part. Giving Jesus Lordship is the hard part. We must try our hardest to follow in Jesus's footsteps, as our goal is to become like Christ. This doesn't mean that life is all cherries from now on. Actually, life may be more difficult consciously trying to evade sin and resist temptation. Our job on earth, our main purpose, is to build Christ's church. Life is not easy, but God will never give us something we cannot bear. And He is always there.
There's so much more to explain but I think I will just leave it here now. If you have any questions, please, please don't hesitate to ask. God bless.
